From the Machine Room:
I would like to welcome you to our first edition of “Vertically Speaking,” our new E-Newsletter. This will be a quarterly publication and we trust you will enjoy it, there will be something of interest in it for everyone.
One of the most important reasons we have developed this newsletter is to bring Accurate Elevator and our current and potential clients closer together. Over the years we have become concerned about the lack of knowledge that accompanies elevator usage and management. Like many service sectors elevator maintenance has been commoditized down to the lowest common denominator, PRICE!! While this approach may be fine for buying say potatoes at your local supermarket, it can spell disaster when choosing elevator service,
Accurate Elevator has taken the lead in trying to correct this problem by operating our company based on a unique system, The Accu-Trac Elevator Management System. This unique approach is designed to give our clients an unprecedented level of customized service. In addition to Accu-Trac this year we launched the “Accurate Elevator Educational Series.” This program is presented in a lunch and learn setting at your facility and is designed to educate you and members of your staff on specific aspects of elevator operation, maintenance, codes and technology advances.
What all this means is that our newest feature “Vertically Speaking” is a natural progression of our unique style of doing business, a style that forges strong and satisfying business relationships. I also urge you to take advantage of our feed back system, “Your Point of View.” It is critical that we know how you feel and what you desire in order so that we can serve you better now and in the future and I thank you for taking the time to read this.

When we think of operations, so much comes to mind. In the current economic times, it is all about how to reduce costs associated with operating your business. In the elevator world, a world that becomes very dangerous when cuts are made from that bucket, it is so important to stay informed.
When the budget of maintenance on your lift equipment is a place you think can be cut – think again. If you switch to a provider who charges less – more than likely you will be getting less. The dangerous part is that people are dependent on the safe operation of that equipment. Cutting costs in this area may mean that the safety devices are not being checked properly or at all.
If you are thinking that cutting your maintenance frequency can help to reduce costs, again this is not always the case. If you are currently receiving monthly service, going quarterly will not save money. In fact, in some cases, it can become more expensive. Proper maintenance saves you money in the long run. Anyone who has owned a vehicle that has over a hundred thousand miles on it, and has properly maintained it, knows the value of that money spent.
In the current world, the focus is all about reducing costs. Be Cautious Of Where You Select To Reduce Your Overhead.

I would like start by telling you a true story from a perspective client that could very easily be you now or in the future. Three weeks ago I met with a facility engineer who is interested in having Accurate Elevator service his passenger elevator. As soon as I walked into his office, he said to me, rather frustrated, “How long do your contracts last?” My response was, “However long you would like it to last.” He then offered me a seat. As we started to discuss his current elevator situation I could not help but wonder why he asked about the length of our contracts. So, I changed the direction of our conversation and asked him, “Why are you so concerned with the length of our AGREEMENT?” At that point he told me that his current elevator company had a clause on the 7th page at the bottom in small print. The clause read, “THIS CONTRACT WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW FOR 20 YEARS IF YOU DO NOT CANCELL THIS CONTRACT 90 DAYS PRIOR TO THE ANNIVERSARY DATE.”
This poor guy could not stand his current company. They were sending him questionable invoices, not showing up maintenance visits, the elevators looked like they had not been serviced for a year, the pit was lined with trash and there was actually a pay stub in the pit dated 10/14/2002. What does that tell you?
He made a phone call to this company and they told him that there was nothing they could do. Their exact words were, “Our attorneys will make you keep the contract.” Now doesn’t that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
You will notice in the first paragraph that I have put the word AGREEMENT in capitals. The reason for this is that at Accurate Elevator and Lift Co. we would rather AGREE to service your elevators. We do not want you to feel as though your hands are tied to stay with us. Here are some of the benefits of putting your faith in working with Accurate:
- You Can Sign A Contract On Year By Year Basis. This actually benefits the customer. Do you think we are going to do our best on every service call and maintenance visit knowing that you have the option not to renew with us every year?
- The 90 Day Money Back Guarantee. This is unheard of in the elevator industry. We will actually refund any money you have paid for maintenance and labor if you are not fully satisfied with our work.
- Two Pages of Information. We do not try to bambuzzle you withseveral pages of exclusions. We are up front with our terms. We do not play games.
- Discuss the Agreement Face to Face. We do not just fax or email it over you and wait for you to send it back. We sit down and explain the agreement and answer any questions face to face.
- The State Inspections Are Included. We do not believe that it is your responsibility to contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and schedule the inspection. This is why you pay for an elevator maintenance company. Many times the agreement will seem much less expensive because the charges are your responsibility. You can add from $800 to $1200 to the total cost of the agreement.
So, the bottom line is that in order to feel comfortable with your elevator service company you need to make sure your agreement is spelled out without long terms, several exclusions and legal phrases designed to trap you like an animal. That is not how you want to do business. Good luck and feel free to call me at (508) 946-8077 or toll free at 1 (888) 737-8077 with any of your AGREEMENT questions.

As more homeowners are choosing to renovate and/or build additions
instead of building new, a home elevator becomes a great option. Many
people are not aware that a home elevator can be added into an existing
home – but it can! By exploring the possibility of a home elevator, you
may be able to extend the time you stay in your home. If mobility issues
are the only thing between you & an assisted living facility – consider
the option. A home elevator is like buying a new vehicle, but this
vehicle rides in your home and not on the street. There are so many
different options to choose from. The most important choices are the
drive machinery, whether or not you will need a machine room, the
manufacture you choose, as well as, the installation company. At
Accurate Elevator, we strive to educate you on all aspects of this home
amenity. We can help you find an option that meets your needs and stays
within your budget. We are here to help! Take us up on our offer!

The Inclinator LX patented gearless motor traction drive system is the only home elevator to have ASME A17.7 compliance certification. This validates Inclinator’s success in engineering a higher performance-based drive system than any other home elevator. It features a smooth ride, virtually noiseless operation, more energy-efficiency and more safety features. Inclinator continues to set the standard for home elevators. It is our opinion that this technology will replace other drives in the next five to ten years. Permanent magnet motor drives are to the industry what front wheel drive was to the automotive industry! Visit WWW.Inclinator.com for more information.
